Jack.org Urges Communities to Unite on World Mental Health Day to Address Youth Mental Health Crisis

Jack.org invites you to participate in Canada’s Ride for Youth Mental Health, supporting crucial mental health programs for young individuals.

The organization is hosting Jack Ride, Canada’s Ride for Youth Mental Health, in partnership with presenting sponsor Bank of America. This event aims to raise funds for essential mental health education programs for young people nationwide. These programs focus on teaching youth how to identify signs of mental health issues, have supportive conversations with their peers, and know when and where to seek professional help.

Youth mental health is a pressing issue in Canada, as the country ranks poorly compared to other wealthy nations in terms of mental health outcomes for young individuals. With one of the highest rates of adolescent suicide, it is crucial to provide necessary mental health education to youth in order to ensure they receive the support they need.

By participating in Jack Ride, individuals can contribute to the support and development of programs that empower young people with the knowledge and skills to navigate mental health challenges and build resilience. Over the past 15 years, Jack Riders have raised over $10 million to aid in the improvement of mental health services for young individuals. This year, Jack Ride aims to raise $1.5 million to continue its mission of equipping young people with the necessary tools to thrive.

The event welcomes cyclists of all levels and families, offering three options for participation:
-Caledon, Ontario: Flagship Ride on May 25th, 2024
-Canmore, Alberta: Volunteer-run Ride on July 13th, 2024
-Virtual Ride: Participate at your own convenience, anywhere you prefer to cycle

To quote Rowena Pinto, President and CEO of Jack.org, “Young people’s mental health has been in a state of emergency for far too long. We know that early intervention and education saves lives and improves quality of life. We need to invest in building programs that are setting our young people up for healthy futures and increasing our reach across Canada.”

Joining Jack Ride can make a significant impact on the lives of young individuals and contribute to a healthier future where mental health education plays a crucial role in supporting youth. To participate in Jack Ride, visit jack.org/ride.

Jack Ride is proudly supported by Presenting Sponsor Bank of America, as well as Accenture, Avanade, BMO, CIBC, Zeifmans, Ardene, and other generous sponsors.
