Sebastian Vettel in talks with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff about potential return to F1 grid as four-time world champion

Sebastian Vettel, the four-time Formula 1 world champion, has revealed that he is considering a return to the sport. In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News, Vettel expressed his thoughts on the possibility of making a comeback to the grid. The German driver retired in 2022 after a successful career in F1, but ongoing discussions with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and other team principals have fueled speculation about his return.

Mercedes currently has a vacant seat for 2025 following Lewis Hamilton’s departure to Ferrari, while Vettel’s former team, Red Bull, could also have an opening with Sergio Perez’s contract expiring. When asked about his potential return, Vettel acknowledged that while he retired with no intention of coming back, the competitive nature of Formula 1 still appeals to him.

In addition to his discussions with Wolff, Vettel has been exploring other opportunities within the sport. He recently tested a Porsche hypercar for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, hinting at a possible debut in the prestigious event. Despite enjoying his time away from racing, Vettel admits that the thrill and competition of Formula 1 are aspects he misses the most.

Reflecting on Hamilton’s surprising move to Ferrari, Vettel expressed his excitement for the new challenge his former rival will face. With Hamilton set to partner with Charles Leclerc at Ferrari, Vettel believes the team will need to manage the competitiveness between the two talented drivers effectively.

As Vettel contemplates a potential return to Formula 1, fans eagerly anticipate his decision and whether he will join the grid once again. The historic rivalry between Vettel and Hamilton adds an intriguing dynamic to the sport, setting the stage for an exciting future in Formula 1.
