Latest Updates Leading up to the New Hampshire Primary

A recent CNN/UNH poll has revealed that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ supporters could have a significant impact on the upcoming Republican primary in New Hampshire. According to the poll, when DeSantis’ supporters are reallocated to their second choice candidate, former President Donald Trump’s lead over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley widens slightly.

The poll, conducted from January 16 through January 19, found that Trump’s support increases from 50% to 54% when DeSantis’ backers are factored in, while Haley’s support only shifts from 39% to 41%. This suggests that DeSantis’ supporters generally favor Trump over Haley as their second choice.

The survey also found that among registered Republicans, Trump’s support increases to 72% from 67%, while Haley’s backing among undeclared voters stands at 60% instead of 58%. Additionally, Trump’s support among conservative likely GOP primary voters climbs to 77% from 71%, while Haley maintains 72% support among moderate likely Republican primary voters.

It’s important to note that DeSantis suspended his campaign shortly after the poll was conducted, indicating that the dynamics of the race could shift further as the primary approaches.

This poll sheds light on the complex and ever-changing landscape of the Republican primary race, and its results could have a significant impact on the eventual nominee.

The CNN poll was conducted online among 2,348 New Hampshire adults and identified 1,210 likely Republican primary voters. The results for the Republican primary voter group have a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.

Historically, New Hampshire holds the first primary in the United States, making it a key state in the primary Election process. Its independent-minded voters often play a crucial role in shaping the trajectory of the primary race. This latest poll underscores the importance of understanding the shifting allegiances and preferences of voters in this critical state.

As the race continues to evolve, it will be crucial for candidates to adapt their strategies based on the latest polling data and voter sentiments.
